I haven't kept up with packaging in a year or so, and I just looked at https://github.com/bytecodealliance/registry and saw the note that says it's no longer being maintained, with a pointer to another project that works with OCI registries. Is warg being deprecated in favor of OCI, or is warg still alive and it's just that particular implementation that we're moving away from?
And where are the most up-to-date design docs on registry stuff in general?
Warg didn't have enough engineering interest to support ongoing development of its relatively complex design. The protocol is still technically supported in wasm-pkg-tools but I don't know how long that will be tenable without more active maintenance.
OCI is the most likely way forward, then?
That seems likely at the moment, yes.
There is a bit of documentation here (and the following OCI-specific section).
Thanks.
