Hey folks,
Nearly all of our public streams (that is, streams that can be viewed, joined, and interacted with by anyone who joins this Zulip instance) are also "Web Public", which means that you can read the threads without becoming a member of this Zulip instance, and search engines can index threads in the stream.
This #WASI-Virt stream, however, is not web public.
I'd like to get everything consistent, and I also believe there are benefits to allowing people to read threads before creating a Zulip login. Some previous discussion here: https://bytecodealliance.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/206238-general/topic/web-public.20streams.3F
Does anyone have any concerns with me flipping this stream over from "public" to "web public"?
@fitzgen (he/him) thanks for looking into this - I would have set this as web public if I could have but didn't have the permission on creation. It would be great to get this in line with the others.
The same applies for the "jco" stream I believe
cool, I'll make the switch!
ah wait it seems I don't have permissions, but I thought I did
@Till Schneidereit can you do that?
(and same for #wasi-gfx)
unfortunately I can't, but I'll request it from people who can
(I looked into whether we can change that for our instance, but that doesn't seem to be possible)
I requested this change, and also filed an issue for Zulip to enable mods to do this: https://github.com/zulip/zulip/issues/29793
fitzgen (he/him) has marked this topic as resolved.
@fitzgen (he/him) thanks for sorting this out. Do you think we could do the same for the jco stream?
I'll forward the request
