Web-public stream created by Bailey Hayes. Description:
Componentize The World is an event organized by the Bytecode Alliance co-located at the end of WasmCon.
Hey everyone - Event registration for Componentize the World (aka Bacon) is Live:
https://bytecodealliance.org/articles/announcing-componentize-the-world
Do you have to be a registered wasmcon attendee to join for the hackathon? The language on the eventbrite seems to indicate it's open more generally but not completely sure.
Hello, will it be possible to join or otherwise participate online? I think this would be a great opportunity to present wasm-bridge, since it now supports the component model, but I can't attend in-person.

I believe this is open to the world; the hard part is virtual participation, as the assumption is that there will be a lot of tables discussing one or the other topics. I look forward here to the details.
Hi I would definitely like to know, if virtual participation is allowed. my in person wasmcon participation is a bit uncertain.
the event is definitely open to all, no need to attend wasmcon. And we will have remote participation options, yes
woo hoo - the Linux Foundation got the event listed on the LF wasmCon page:
https://events.linuxfoundation.org/wasmcon/features/co-located-events-workshops/#bytecode-alliance-componentize-the-world
This is really nice
Does this event welcome beginner coder? I haven't been to any hackathon and still learning to code, but very interested in open sourced software. I also don't see an agenda, does everyone spend the day at the event?
Also curious about languages attendee's are able to use - The listing says javascript can be used but it looks like wit-bindgen still doesn't support it?
JavaScript components can be made using JCO and Componentize-JS

All skill levels are welcome! We will also have a documentathon of sorts that is a great track for non-coders.

The agenda will be more formally published soon, but in the meantime, here's a rough outline:

Great to hear that, looking forward to the event.
@Till Schneidereit Thank you!
Can someone point me to some resources to get started experimenting with components before Friday? The languages I am most familar with
are C++ and Rust.
I'm happy to help out with documentation. I've gotten some good answers here about components and wasmtime that I would like to add to the relevant docs. Is there anything I can do to prepare myself beforehand?

I found the runtime tests in https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wit-bindgen to be useful. If you know rust you should be ok with that.
For documentation, checkout:
and please don't hesitate to file issues or ask questions here about that documentation!
Is there a formal agenda published yet?
Will the opening and toolchain overviews be live streamed for those wanting to try things remotely?
Would it make sense to organize some shared transpot, e.g. pooling Ubers, to Microsoft tomorrow morning? It starts at 8 am, right?
It starts 9am (originally it was 8am). There is no shuttle or anything like that but probably makes sense to share Ubers
Oh, I could've slept a little bit more :)
could someone share the link to the live stream, please? I have not received anything via email

there will be future zoom links for other rooms after the setup here

@Alex Crichton , thank you for the link
