Thanks for the PR! Currently we don't have a ton of precedent for an optional feature to enable more functions to be exposed, but it feels a bit odd to copy in the *.witx and bypass the proposal itself. Is this something which could be added to the official proposal first before adding support here with an optional feature?

Absolutely, I don't see why it couldn't be added to the official proposal first. I'll work on adding that now.

This is now handled by https://crates.io/crates/image2tensor so no need for this PR.
