Since this panics the host from the guest, this actually falls under our project's security policy, and in the future it would be helpful to project maintainers if you could report problems like this as a security advisory rather than sending a public PR. I'm taking point on filing the security advisory for this one and we are making sure the fix goes out with today's security release.
