Personally I find link previews in Zulip to be annoying in that I rarely want them and a post with a lot of links ends up being very cluttered since at the end of the post is a long wall of previews. In Discord for example you can customize this per-link (e.g. link vs <link>) but I don't think you can do that on Zulip. On Zulip it looks like there's a organization-wide setting for this. I noticed recently that for rust-lang there's no link previews shown, leading me down this path.
What would others think about disabling link previews? Do others find it useful for example?
An example of what I find is very cluttered is
+1 to disabling this if we can
hmm, I personally do like the previews, but I can see how they can easily introduce a lot of noise.
I'll bring this up in the next TSC meeting, since it doesn't seem like a thing where I should just make a change using the Zulip admin powers vested in me ...
It's a bummer this is an org level thing and not per message...
agreed, yeah. Or even a user-level setting on the receiving end; I think that'd be ideal
+1 for disabling. I find them distracting
+1 for disabling
yeah +1 for disabling, when there are multiple previews especially it just becomes a huge amount of visual noise that overpowers the actual conversation
Disable; lots of code discussions link to multiple locations and BOY that's an explosion. If I wanna know, I can go.....
After discussing this in the TSC just now, I disabled previews
Thanks!
Awesome :tada:
